Department and Faculty
At the Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center, staff members treat sports- and activity-related injuries to facilitate a quick return to sports and activity. The center offers a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to diagnose musculoskeletal conditions.
Both competitive and recreational athletes are at risk of injuries that limit their performance. As an outpatient clinic affiliated with Mayo Clinic's Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Department of Orthopedic Surgery, the Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center is a place where specialists from a variety of disciplines work in concert to meet the needs of each patient.
In addition to caring for patients in clinical practice, Mayo Clinic's faculty is committed to teaching and facilitating the growth of medical knowledge. Many of our faculty members have published and lectured extensively and are highly regarded in their fields. You work closely with the sports medicine staff at Mayo Clinic Square in Minneapolis and Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester throughout your training in the PM&R Sports Medicine Fellowship.
Advisers and mentors
Faculty advisers are available to provide educational advice and personal support. These advisers serve as contact points, introducing you and your family to Minneapolis, Minnesota, and the Mayo Clinic system.
Many prominent professors visit Mayo Clinic each year. They present their work during lectures and participate in other scholarly activity. You are encouraged to take full advantage of these opportunities.
