Department and Faculty
The Division of Rheumatology at Mayo Clinic's campus in Jacksonville, Florida, focuses on providing state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases in a setting of active basic and clinical research, as well as education. Physicians see more than 10,000 people with rheumatic diseases each year.
A variety of arthritis types are diagnosed and treated within the division, including common diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, as well as rare diseases such as relapsing polychondritis and multicentric reticulohistiocytosis.
The Division of Rheumatology is composed of five staff doctors (called "consultants" at Mayo Clinic), one fellow in training and one allied health staff member. Consultants are involved in clinical practice and research.

We take pride in being a very strong clinical program. You'll become proficient in managing complex outpatient and inpatient rheumatological problems as well as frequent and common conditions in our specialty.
We also provide you with vast opportunities to do clinical research in multiple areas such as video capillaroscopy, car T-cells, regenerative medicine, and in different disorders such as vasculitis, scleroderma, interstitial lung disease, psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and gout among others.

In addition to caring for patients in their clinical practices, faculty members involved in the Rheumatology Fellowship are committed to teaching and facilitating the growth of medical knowledge. Many of the faculty members have published and lectured extensively and are highly regarded in their fields. During your training in this fellowship, you have direct access to the rheumatology faculty at Mayo Clinic.
