Luz Sullivan, M.D.

Luz Sullivan, M.D.Medical school: Universidad de Caldas, Manizales, Colombia 
Residency: Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY

Dr. Luz Sullivan grew up in Colombia. She received her medical degree from Universidad de Caldas, Manizales, Colombia. After graduation she worked in emergency medicine and primary care focusing on underserved communities. She then went into quality management and earned a master’s degree in health care quality management from Universidad El Bosque, Bogota, Colombia. Upon arriving in the United States, she completed a Clinical and anatomic pathology residency at Albany Medical Center in Upstate New York. She is now pursuing her Transfusion Medicine Fellowship at Mayo Clinic. Special interests include immunohematology, coagulation, and patient blood management. Outside of work she enjoys hiking, cooking and spend time with family.

Ahmed Zan, M.B.B.S.

Zan Ahmed, M.B.B.S.Medical school: Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), Karachi, Pakistan
Residency: University of South Alabama, Mobile, AL

Dr. Ahmed Zan is from Sacramento, California. He studied medicine overseas, where he received his medical degree from Dow University of Health Sciences in Pakistan. Upon his return, he spent a year as a research instructor at the University of Buffalo prior to completing a combined AP/CP residency at the University of South Alabama. Zan has a passion for medicine, especially as it relates to patient blood management and quality improvement. Outside of the lab, Zan enjoys the outdoors through hiking, kayaking, and traveling with his wife.

Mayo Fellows Association (MFA)

The Mayo Fellows Association (MFA) offers a peer and social support network for residents and fellows and their families with social events, athletics, and advocacy. The MFA also holds an annual resident and fellow appreciation event open to all trainees with complimentary massages, stress-reducing activities, and social support.
