Friday, March 18, is Match Day across the U.S. That includes Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine fourth-year students in Arizona, Florida, and Minnesota who will be continuing on to residencies at teaching hospitals across the nation. Ninety-one medical students successfully matched with 31% of those matching at one of Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education's three campuses.

As part of the National Resident Matching Program, fourth-year medical students nationwide simultaneously opened their envelopes at 11 a.m. CDT to find out their future specialties and residency training locations for the next three to seven years.

Matching with Mayo Clinic

Mayo Clinic not only trains future physicians at Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine, but is also is a destination for incoming resident trainees. Match Day is important to Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education, as it offers residency positions across Mayo Clinic.

Sixty-three of the programs within Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education in Arizona, Florida, and Minnesota participated in the National Resident Matching Program, and the school offered 323 residencies.

By the numbers

There was a total of 91 matches for Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine class of 2022 across our three campuses. Our students matched all over the country – to 23 different states as well as Washington D.C.
