The Cardiac Monitoring and Interpreting Technician Internship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, admits up to 10 students per cohort.
Admission requirements and policies
Prerequisites
- Provide an official high school transcript or proof of a GED
- For applicants currently a senior in high school during time of applying, a Verification of Good Standing will be required. A high school diploma must be obtained prior to completion of the Cardiac Monitoring and Interpreting Technician Internship.
- Possess a 2.0 minimum GPA
Candidates are selected based on previous employment, volunteering and customer service experiences, leadership qualities, and representation of personal qualities and skills in a personal interview.
Non-U.S. citizen applicants
Admission to Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences is open to U.S. workers in the four categories below. Therefore, visa sponsorship is not available.

Applicants whose primary language is not English must submit results from the Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-based test (TOEFL iBT). Scores from the speaking portion of the exam are given particular consideration in admission decisions. Learn more about the exam and register online at the Educational Testing Service.
The Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences code for the TOEFL iBT is 5784.
Educational transcripts from schools outside the U.S. must be translated (if they are not already in English) and evaluated for U.S. equivalence by an accredited credential evaluation service company prior to submission. Please refer to the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services for a list of qualified companies. The applicant pays for the examination and credential-evaluation services.

Complete the following steps to apply:

- Complete each section of the application and submit
- After submission, view the required Supplemental Items and Documents
- Upload your personal statement
- Personal statement is to be 300-500 words and should state what it is about the CMIT Internship and the cardiac monitoring profession that makes you want to participate.
- Populate contact information for two professional references (name, email, relationship to applicant)
- May include current or former teachers, counselors, professors, employers, or supervisors. Family and friends are not accepted.
- Official transcripts from each high school or college that you have attended must be emailed (preferred) from the institution to mccm@mayo.edu

- Upload your personal statement
- Unofficial transcripts may be uploaded in the Supplemental Items area for application purposes. Transcripts are required from all educational institutions you attended including high school and, if applicable, all college and university credits and grades from your most recent quarter or semester. Transcript(s) need to include your name, school name, courses, and GPA. If admitted, official transcripts must be provided to the program directly from the institution(s) prior to the start of the program.
Interview process
After the application window closes, the selection committee reviews each completed application and all required supplemental documentation. Applicants selected to continue in the admissions process will be invited to complete a virtual interview video submission. The virtual interview must be submitted by the deadline to remain eligible for consideration. Following review of the virtual interview video submissions, the selection committee will make admissions decisions and may identify up to three alternates per cohort. If alternates are not granted a seat in the current cohort, they may be offered a seat in the next available cohort.
Acceptance
Applicants who are admitted into the program will receive a letter. If you receive an acceptance letter, your reply is expected within one week.
