Professional Development

Practice committees

As a PGY-1 pharmacy resident, you will have the opportunity to participate on institutional committees. Through this experience, you will be able to provide valuable input into practice decisions and participate in consensus building and leadership discussions. A faculty member provides guidance and will serve as a preceptor for you at committee meetings.

Professional travel

During the residency, you may have the opportunity to attend up to two weeks of professional meetings for the purpose of networking, professional development, and service to the profession. Funding for travel-related expenses, such as airfare, hotel, and registration fees, may be provided by the residency program.

PGY-1 pharmacy residents typically attend the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Midyear Clinical Meeting and the Florida Residency Conference. Additional meetings are based on the discretion of the residency program director and available funds. Typically, residents are allotted a maximum of 10 professional travel days a year.
