Teaching and Learning

Teaching certificate

A teaching certificate is offered to residents interested in the opportunity. The teaching certificate program is composed of online modules which are discussed with the program director on a monthly basis along with required didactic and practice-based teaching hours. Submission of a teaching philosophy and a teaching portfolio is required for the certificate.

Preceptor responsibilities

As a PGY-1 pharmacy resident, you will serve as a co-preceptor for pharmacy students. This learning opportunity further refines both clinical and didactic teaching skills necessary to ensure continual scholarly development.

Presentations

You will be required to provide formal continuing education presentations during the academic year at the Mayo Clinic Florida Pharmacy Grand Rounds. In addition, you will provide patient case presentations, journal clubs, and discussions for the Pharmacotherapy Review Series throughout the year. At the conclusion of this series, you should achieve fundamental concepts in pharmacotherapy necessary for preparation for the board certification exam in pharmacotherapy (BCPS).

Mayo Clinic School of Continuous Professional Development, in collaboration with the Department of Pharmacy, is a continuing education provider recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
