In addition to caring for patients in clinical practice, Mayo Clinic's faculty is committed to teaching and facilitating the growth of medical knowledge. You have direct access to these individuals throughout your training in the STR-X Fellowship.

Michael Harrison, M.D., Ph.D.Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine Dr. Michael Harrison completed the Mayo Clinic Aerospace Fellowship in Rochester, Minnesota, and worked for SpaceX previously before taking the role of Chief Medical Officer at Axiom Space in Houston, Texas. Dr. Harrison plays a key role as an emergency medicine and ICU physician. With his Ph.D. in physiology, he plays a role in pioneering future roles with Mayo Clinic towards the Bold.Forward 2030 Strategic plan. Bold.Forward 2030 aligns with STR-X’s core mission to expand the reach of subspecialty health care professionals to the ultimate location in microgravity and space. |

Levi Howard, D.O.Adjunct Faculty Major Levi Howard, D.O., completed the Mayo Clinic Neurology Residency in Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona, followed by a two-year neurocritical care fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, in which all his research and elective time were based on STR-X rotations. Dr. Howard participated in Department of Defense sub-award research at Mayo Clinic and ECS partners based out of Orlando on military training for virtual thoracostomy and virtual escharotomy using virtual reality and haptics with Mayo Clinic staff and emergency medical services staff in the region. |

Hong Liang, D.O.Mayo Clinic Scholar Dr. Liang completed the Mayo Clinic Anesthesiology Residency in Jacksonville, Florida, followed by a one-year cardiothoracic anesthesiology fellowship at Duke University in North Carolina as a Mayo Scholar appointee. Before attending medical school, she worked as a software engineer at Stryker Corporation's Orthopedic Robotic Research and Development center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she led a team of engineers in developing and testing several key features on the Mako SmartRobotics™. |

Facilities
Mayo Clinic's campus in Jacksonville, Florida, is a comprehensive medical facility providing advanced programs in education and research that support the highest quality patient care. You will train in the 2,500-square-foot Procedural Skills Laboratory at the J. Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver Simulation Center in the Vincent A. Stabile Building. The Procedural Skills Laboratory is a space for conceptual and experiential learning.
As a fellow, you will have electronic access to a suite of internal resources and technology to keep you connected to Mayo Clinic colleagues across the globe including Mayo Clinic sites in Arizona and Minnesota, plus international sites like Mayo Clinic Healthcare in London.
