Positions

There is one position available on a competitive basis each year in the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship.

Qualifications

To be eligible for the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship, you must complete a general psychiatry residency in an ACGME-accredited residency program, an AOA-approved residency program, a program with ACGME International (ACGME-I) Advanced Specialty Accreditation, or a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) –accredited or College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)-accredited residency program located in Canada and take the appropriate board examinations. We welcome applications from residents who are in their final year of training in general psychiatry and graduates of general psychiatry programs who are now pursuing other endeavors.

Applicants also must be qualified to take the psychiatry specialty certification exam offered by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

How to apply

Applications are accepted through ERAS. Applications for each academic year, which begins in July, should be completed by Aug. 13 one calendar year prior to the program start date. Complete the following steps to apply.

You must apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). International medical graduates should contact the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) for information on how to apply using ERAS.

  1. To apply to the program, visit the ERAS website
  2. All applications to Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education (MCSGME) programs must include these application materials

In addition to the standard application materials required by MCSGME, this program requires:

  • An additional letter of recommendation from your residency program director (for a total of three recommendation letters). All recommendation letters must be dated within six months of submission, and be completed in the Recommendation Request section. Each recommender will receive an email with a link to upload a letter.

Applications after Jan. 1 may be accepted outside of ERAS on an individual basis.

Internal applicants applying only to the home program do not need to utilize ERAS. Reach out to your education program coordinator for additional information.

Most interviews are conducted in July-August of each year.
