Application Process

Positions

There is one position available on a highly competitive basis each year in the Advanced Lung Disease and Lung Transplant Fellowship.

Qualifications

To be eligible for the Advanced Lung Disease and Lung Transplant Fellowship, you must have completed three years of training in an internal medicine residency program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

In addition, you should have completed a two-year ACGME-accredited in pulmonary medicine or a three-year ACGME-accredited pulmonary and critical care medicine program.

How to apply

Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education does not process printed applications for this program. The academic year begins in July.

We have filled our July 2025 position. Our next position will be for July 2026. However, we will be offering interviews and potential positions on a rolling basis, so it is recommended that you turn in your application materials promptly.  

You must apply through Recruit, a third-party application service. No matching program services are used.

  1. To apply to the program, create an account to begin the online Application for Admission.
  2. All applications to Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education programs must include these application materials. This fellowship requires that one of your three letters of recommendation be from your current (or most recent) fellowship director.
  3. Applicants considered for an appointment will be invited to a personal interview with the program director and selected Mayo Clinic faculty. We have filled our July 2025 position. Our next open position will be for July 2026. Interviews will be conducted between July and September 2025, with the applicant notification by the end of October 2025. Interviews will be virtual until further notice.
