Mayo Clinic anesthesiology residents attending a lecture

The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine residency program provides a robust curriculum with broad clinical experiences that empower graduates to become leaders within the field of anesthesiology.

Our training provides exposure to a wide range of complex cases in a variety of surgical fields that require unique anesthetic planning. Mayo Clinic in Arizona leads the nation in abdominal transplant surgery, complex head and neck surgeries, high-risk cardiothoracic procedures, cutting-edge neurosurgical procedures, and comprehensive interventional pain management. Our residents also rotate at world-class hospitals within the city with high acuity obstetric, pediatric, and trauma anesthesia services.

Didactics include lectures and simulation sessions that cover basic, advanced, and subspecialty ABA topics. There are ample opportunities for research within our department with heavily invested faculty mentors that help residents develop projects and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
