Application Process

Positions

Qualifications

Applicants for the Clinical Neuropsychology Fellowship must have completed a doctoral degree from a program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) or Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) in one of the health service delivery areas of psychology, such as clinical psychology or counseling psychology.

Requisite training must include:

  • Core clinical psychology coursework, including psychometric theory, assessment, psychopathology, diversity, and professional ethics
  • Core neuro coursework, including foundations in brain behavior relationships, functional neuroanatomy, neural systems, and neurological disorders
  • Supervised clinical training in the practice of neuropsychology, including specialized assessment and intervention techniques
  • Supervised scholarly training in empirical research design and methodology, and statistics

All applicants must complete an APA- or CPA-accredited internship with one or more rotations in clinical neuropsychology. All doctoral degree requirements, including successful dissertation defense, must be completed before the Clinical Neuropsychology Fellowship begins. The academic year begins July 1, 2026, though flexibility in the start date often can be arranged.

How to apply

Applicants to this fellowship program apply through Recruit, a third-party online application service that is used by the Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education. Using the steps below, please submit a completed application with all supporting documents no later than Dec. 1, 2025. Late applications will not be accepted. Complete the following steps to apply:

  1. First, create your account through Recruit
  2. Upload all required materials in the "Supplemental Items and Documents" section. These include:
    • Cover letter: no more than 1-2 pages in length.
    • Personal statement: no more than 1-2 paragraphs in length. This should include brief mention of professional goals as well as address the question: “How does your lived experience uniquely inform what your interests are in clinical neuropsychology?”
    • Doctoral diploma: a scanned copy of the diploma conferred by your graduate program.
    • Official final graduate program transcripts: this should include 1) degree earned and date conferred from each program you attended, and 2) documentation of at least one course in neuroanatomy or neural systems. Scanned copies are acceptable. If written in a language other than English, please provide certified or notarized English translations of the document(s).
    • Doctoral training verification: a doctoral training verification form completed by your dissertation advisor or graduate program’s director of clinical training. The doctorate degree must be conferred prior to July 1, 2026. If not conferred by then, please have the writer certify what date the degree will be officially conferred. Scanned copies are acceptable.
    • Curriculum vitae: this should outline your educational experience, clinical and scholarly training, publications, presentations, activities within professional societies, and any other relevant experience.
    • Sample publications: one to two reprints or pre-prints of publications in peer-reviewed academic journals.
  3. Complete the "recommendation request" section. Our program requires three letters of recommendation from faculty experienced with your work. One of these must be from your dissertation chair. Each letter should include the writer's opinion of your professional, academic, and person qualifications, as well as an opinion of your potential success  in the field for which you are applying.

This fellowship uses the Association of Postdoctoral Programs in Clinical Neuropsychology (APPCN) Resident Matching Program. To register, contact the APPCN Resident Matching Program and use program code number 9931 when ranking the Clinical Neuropsychology Fellowship at Mayo Clinic's campus in Jacksonville, Florida.

All recruitment and notification procedures comply with the rules set forth by the APPCN and follow American Psychological Association ethical guidelines. Applicants are free to choose among fellowship offers without prejudice.

Selected applicants will be notified by Dec. 12, 2025  of an invitation to interview. In-person interviews are not required but will be offered on the invitee’s choice of either Friday, Jan. 2, 2026 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. or, on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.. We are able to reimburse one night’s hotel stay. If in-person interviews are not possible, an invitee can schedule a personally tailored Zoom interview with Mayo Clinic Florida faculty and the current fellow.
