Speakers

Speakers for the Clinician Educator Pathway at Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education include a diverse group of internal and external experts in medical education, clinical teaching, curriculum design, and educational leadership. Faculty presenters are selected for their experience as clinician educators and scholars and for their ability to translate educational theory into practical teaching strategies relevant to clinical training environments.

In addition to content-focused sessions, participants are exposed to experienced clinician educators and academic leaders who share their personal career paths, teaching philosophies, and lessons learned in medical education. These speakers engage participants through interactive discussion and Q&A, offering insight into the varied roles and responsibilities of clinician educators across specialties and institutions.

The purpose of these sessions is to help trainees understand the breadth of clinician-educator careers, explore different approaches to teaching and mentorship, and gain practical guidance on building an academic portfolio in medical education. Participants also benefit from hearing firsthand perspectives on balancing clinical practice, teaching, scholarship, and leadership.

Each year, the program strives to include speakers from a range of disciplines, specialties, and professional backgrounds. Prior and typical speakers include:

  • Experienced Mayo Clinic clinician educators and teaching faculty
  • Program directors and associate program directors
  • Leaders in graduate medical education and academic affairs
  • Medical education researchers and curriculum innovators
  • Invited external experts in health professions education
