Holistic application and interview process
To optimize fairness and consistency in our interview process, we use a holistic review approach that equally weighs a candidate’s attributes, experiences, and academic achievements. This approach helps minimize the limitations of relying solely on test scores. We value the “road traveled” and an applicant’s personal and professional character, leadership and communication skills, educational background, service activities, awards, and publications. We believe that fellows with a broad range of experiences and backgrounds strengthen our program and enhance our ability to provide compassionate care to patients with varied needs and life experiences.
All selection committee members have yearly training on how to mitigate implicit bias. All interviewers use a pre-set grading scale to evaluate attributes, experiences, and metrics.
