Mayo Clinic radiologists and staff provide the highest quality diagnostic and interventional imaging services in a caring and efficient manner, while sustaining outstanding programs in research and education.

The Department of Radiology is fully integrated with all the medical services available at Mayo Clinic. More than 60 radiologists and five physicists cooperate with hundreds of support staff to provide diagnostic and therapeutic radiology services to patients.

Experts in all areas of radiology consult with specialists in other departments to provide the best care to every patient every day, consistent with Mayo's mission. Radiologists work with state-of-the-art equipment, assisted by skilled technologists and nurses, to perform and interpret more than 325,000 examinations yearly. This large number of cases, integrated with ongoing research and education, results in wide-ranging expertise in the imaging and treatment of diseases affecting patients of all ages.

In addition to caring for patients in their clinical practices, Mayo Clinic's faculty members are committed to teaching and facilitating the growth of medical knowledge. Many of our faculty have published and lectured extensively and are recognized leaders in their fields. You have direct access to these individuals throughout the Diagnostic Radiology Residency.

Welcome to the Mayo Clinic Diagnostic Radiology Residency in Jacksonville, Florida! Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our program.

Our department has over 80 radiology faculty, many of who are world-renowned clinicians, educators, and/or researchers. As a top destination medical center with world-class specialists in every area of medicine, Mayo Clinic attracts a diverse patient population, including a large number of international patients. As the #1 hospital in Florida, we also provide care to a large portion of our local Jacksonville community as well as the surrounding Southeast region. Given our specialization in the care of complex pathologies as well as more simple everyday ailments, our residents are exposed to a broad variety of diagnoses throughout the transitional year and the subsequent four years of diagnostic radiology.

Our faculty-to-resident ratio provides trainees with extensive one-on-one workstation teaching. In addition, our conference curriculum is primarily composed of  case-based interactive teaching where our residents “take the case" to optimize preparedness for the American Board of Radiology examinations, particularly the new oral board examination.

Mayo Clinic provides abundant resources to our residents, which help foster research collaboration, mentoring, teaching, and leadership opportunities.

The ongoing expansion of our campus and departmental facilities in Jacksonville include our 3D Printing Lab and Artificial Intelligence Lab, as well as our state-of-the-art equipment (including 3T PET/MRI, on-campus cyclotron, and 7T MRI, which is routinely used for both clinical and research purposes). We take pride in the quality of our imaging which is considered among the best in the world because we have the most advanced equipment, an amazing physicist team, and top-notch technologists and nurses.

Mayo's campus in Florida also houses the Digital Innovation Lab, whose purpose is to cultivate interest and develop support for novel clinical care applications, including those utilizing artificial intelligence. Furthermore, all of our residents have the opportunity to enroll in the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Academy or Elective, which help provide the skillsets necessary to advance novel ideas, devices, care pathways, or research processes.

In summary, the Mayo Clinic Florida Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program is committed to providing outstanding educational, clinical, and research opportunities throughout your four years of residency. Please enjoy exploring our website, which provides you a comprehensive look at who we are and why our program is a great place to train.
