Welcome from the chief residents

Are you looking for a high-caliber program with world-class faculty? Seeking an academic environment with plentiful research opportunities? A portrait with the chief residents The radiology department at Mayo Clinic in sunny Jacksonville provides expert care in a tertiary care setting. As not only a regional but national and international referral center, you will experience a wide variety of pathologies and procedures including a robust solid organ transplant service.

Our central EMR and PACS systems provide access to the wealth of clinical data available at Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota, providing ample additional teaching and research cases. We also have a collaboration with Neumors/Wolfson Children's Hospital/Clinic and the University of Florida at Jacksonville for pediatric and trauma rotations.

Our department is well-staffed with an excellent faculty-to-resident ratio. All of our rotations are subspecialized, and our staff radiologists are highly regarded in their subspecialty. We maintain an excellent balance between education and autonomy. We have, and continue to fight for, our independent call, which we strongly believe will better prepare us for independent practice.

With a limited fellow presence, our rotations are resident-focused with extensive procedure exposure and the opportunity to read advanced “fellow level” cases without competition.

At Mayo, we believe the “the needs of the patient come first." This philosophy transcends elsewhere, such as the respect between doctors, nurses, and other staff. 	Noelani (Nui) Gonzales, D.O. Hometown: Portland, OR and Honolulu, HI Medical school: NSU Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine About me: I was born in Hawaii and raised in Oregon. For undergrad, I studied human physiology at the University of Oregon. Outside of work, my interests include singing, guitar, indie video games, photography, fiction books, and hanging out with my boyfriend and our very fuzzy cat.
	Parth Patel, M.D. Hometown: Houston, TX Medical school: McGovern Medical School – UTHealth Houston About me: I grew up in India and Canada prior to living in the United States. I studied physics in college and attended medical school in Texas before moving for residency at Mayo Clinic. I enjoy cooking, playing video games, watching Bollywood and sci-fi movies, and trying new restaurants!
	Pavan Brahmbhatt, M.B.B.S. Hometown: Chicago, IL Medical school: Smt. N.H.L Medical College About me: I am originally from Chicago and have always loved big cities. Since moving to Jacksonville, I have grown to love the beach as well! I am an avid traveler, love building and collecting Legos, and enjoy playing basketball with all my friends at Mayo. A cool fact is that I used to be a professional gamer prior to residency, primarily FPS games. Radiology is definitely the best specialty out there!
	Karim Zaazoue M.B.B.Ch Hometown: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Medical school: Ain Shams University Faculty of Medicine, Egypt About me: Born and raised in Abu Dhabi, I later moved to Cairo for medical school. After graduating, I served in the military for 2 years then moved to the United States to join Mayo Clinic as a researcher and later chose to pursue my training in interventional radiology at Mayo. As a medical student, my older brother and I started a non-profit organization to spread health awareness to children and the underprivileged in Egypt, and I hope to one day join Doctors Without Borders. In my free time I enjoy hiking new trails, hanging out with my friends, trying new restaurants and reading.
	Nolan Otto, MD Hometown: Jacksonville, FL Medical school: University of Central Florida College of Medicine About me: I am from Jacksonville, FL, and have enjoyed spending some years in Orlando and Saint Petersburg, FL. I enjoy watching sports and playing golf, and try to keep up with practicing guitar. My wife and I love traveling together and taking our golden retriever, Millie, to the beach.
	Lela Okromelidze, MD Hometown: Akhaltsikhe, Republic of Georgia Medical school: Tbilisi State Medical University About me: I was born and raised in the Republic of Georgia and moved to the United States to pursue my interest in diagnostic radiology. Research is my passion and one of the reasons why Mayo Clinic was my top choice for the residency training. In my free time I enjoy ballroom dancing, traveling and baking various desserts.
	Joshua Sellwood, D.O. Hometown: South Africa About me: I was born in South Africa and immigrated to the United States when I was 12. I attended undergrad and medical school in Virginia and now live with my wife and daughter here in Florida. We enjoy spending time on the beach, eating seafood, and exploring all the state parks here in Florida. I am passionate about radiology’s role in oncology and hope to focus on both nuclear radiology and interventional oncology in the future.

	Cynthia De la Garza-Ramos M.D. Hometown: Monterrey, NL, Mexico Medical school: Tecnológico de Monterrey About me: I love training at Mayo as it is a place that offers many opportunities for trainees and has a very positive atmosphere for growth. I enjoy my IR/DR training as well as interventional oncology research. In my spare time, I love practicing yoga and going to the movies or favorite local brewery with my husband, who is a neurosurgery resident at Mayo.
	Christabel Ojieabu, MBChB Hometown: Sagamu, Nigeria Medical school: Obafemi Awolowo College of Health Sciences, Nigeria About me: I moved to Florida directly from Nigeria in 2022 to begin my residency, and it has been a fantastic experience. When I am not occupied with my residency duties, I like to visit the beach, catch up with family and friends, put together fashion inspirations, binge-watch TV shows and read fiction/romance. Chimamanda Adichie and Nora Roberts are my go-to novelists. Additionally, I often find myself watching dog videos, which leads me to believe that I will be getting a dog soon.
	Gaelle Haddad, M.D. Hometown: Lebanon Medical school: Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL About me: I love to work in a positive environment and strive to spread joy and optimism around me. Beyond the medical realm, I am passionate about fashion, diverse types of dance and classical French music.
	Tyler Sargent M.D. Hometown: Stuart, FL Medical school: Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine About me: I am a born and raised Floridian and chose to pursue my residency at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL for its unparalleled culture, case complexity, and emphasis on work-life balance. On the weekends I am doing just about anything on the water, such as surfing, fishing, and boating. I also enjoy HITT/weightlifting at the gym.
	Manasi Arora, MBBS Hometown: New Delhi, India Medical school: Lady Hardinge Medical College, India About me: Born and raised in India. I am interested in academic radiology, research, and innovation. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, travel and landscape photography, swimming, and playing tennis. I also love to drive to the beach after work, to get some sunshine and spend time with my family and friends.
	Nanjiba Nawaz, M.D. Hometown: Dhaka, Bangladesh Medical school: Penn State College of Medicine, Hershey, PA About me: I grew up in Bangladesh and moved to the United States for college. I lived in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania before moving south. My favorite hobbies include spending time with my floofy cat and husband, going to the beach, cooking and baking, and traveling.

	Dillon Brown, M.D. Hometown: Cheyenne, WY Medical school: University of Washington About me: Growing up in Wyoming I loved summer horseback camping trips in the mountains and snow sports in the winter. Now with my young family, I am a big fan of beach days and playing in the pool. Aside from being a dad, I love music and enjoy playing guitar and piano. My life calling is medicine, and I am passionate about diagnostic imaging and IR procedures.
	Kati Bullock, M.D. Hometown: Alpharetta, GA Medical school: Medical College of Georgia About me: I grew up in Alpharetta, GA, and went to Georgia Tech for undergrad. In my free time, I rescue cats, build computers, play video games, and grow orchids and plumerias. I also like to spend time with my boyfriend and my best friend LaRae, who is a family medicine resident here at Mayo Florida. I have two cats that like to destroy all my plants. I am also a vegan who bakes and cooks. I love to help other people, so if you ever have a question about plants, vegan food, or computers, let me know!
	Neethu Gopal, M.B.B.S. Hometown: Kollam, Kerala, India Medical school: Pondicherry University, India About me: I originally hail from the southern part of India. I worked as an emergency medicine physician in India and then as a medical educator in India, Malaysia, UK, and the Caribbean before moving to Tampa, FL, with my husband and daughter. Future career plans include attaining a fellowship in neuroradiology and working in an academic institution with research opportunities. Hobbies include gardening, learning about other cultures, cuisines, art, and languages.
	Kyle Hatcher, M.D. Hometown: Blytheville, AR Medical school: Drexel University College of Medicine About me: I am originally from Blytheville, AR, but grew up in Lake County, FL. When I am not at work, I love to spend time with my wife and our son. We enjoy going to the beach and playing with our dog, hanging out at the many great playgrounds around Jacksonville, and checking out new books from the library and new eats at the many great restaurants around Jacksonville.
	Ali Montazeri, M.D., M.P.H. Hometown: Tehran, Iran Medical school: Beheshti Medical University About me: I came to the U.S. after finishing my M.D.-M.P.H. program. I started as a research fellow at Mayo, and I am continuing to pursue my passion for radiology education and research during residency. I am a coffee enthusiast and completed a barista course. I was a finalist in a national cup tasters’ competition. I roast, grind, and brew different single-origin coffee beans every week! I travel whenever I have a chance and love to see new places and cultures. I also love practicing Persian calligraphy.
	Ana Tavana, M.D. Hometown: Houston, Texas Medical school: The University of Texas Medical Branch About me: My academic interests include musculoskeletal and breast imaging. In my free time, I enjoy following/playing tennis, baking, and nature photography. I have also been playing the piano since the age of 7 and enjoy playing contemporary songs; my favorite artists include Yann Tiersen, Ludovico Einaudi, and Hans Zimmer.

	Mo Elboraey, M.B., B.Ch. Hometown: Port Said, Egypt Medical school: Suez Canal University Faculty of Medicine (Egypt) About me: Born and raised in Egypt. I moved to the United States in 2019 to pursue my residency training and start my career in diagnostic radiology. I am very passionate about procedural radiology and image-guided interventions. My future career interests and plans are academic radiology, teaching, and mentoring medical students and residents. In my spare time, I used to do scuba diving and snorkel in the Red Sea when I was in Egypt, now I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes, weightlifting, hanging out with my friends, and FaceTime with my family and fiancée.
	Cameron Overfield, M.D. Hometown: Weslaco, Texas Medical school: Universidad Adventista del Plata Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud (Arg) About me: I am a huge fan of theme parks and roller coasters. I'm passionate about traveling the world with my wife and learning new languages and cultures. Hobbies include reading fantasy fiction, board games, and pick-up sports.
	Carlos Padula, M.B. Hometown: New York, NY and Caracas Medical school: Universidad de Navarra (Spain) About me: I enjoy spending my free time in the outdoors with my wife and kids. Jacksonville has been a great place to call home with numerous state parks and beaches a short drive away.
	Colin Rowell, M.D. Hometown: Richmond, VA Medical school: Eastern Virginia Medical School About me: I am interested in a broad range of diagnostic imaging and procedures. This was my top choice for residency, and I am ecstatic to receive my training here at Mayo Clinic in Florida. In my spare time, I enjoy visiting zoos/aquariums, going to the beach, and spending time with my wife and our pets (four birds and two dogs).
	Arman Seyedsaadat, M.D. Hometown: Guilan, Iran Medical school: Guilan University of Medical Sciences (Iran) About me: My academic interests include neuroradiology/NeuroIR, and acute stroke imaging/neuroprotection research. In my spare time, I love playing soccer on the Mayo Clinic soccer team, beach volleyball, biking, ping-pong, and watching comedy movies.
	Joe Zhang, D.O. Hometown: San Jose, CA Medical school: Nova Southeastern College Of Osteo Medicine About me: I studied Bioengineering and Biomedical Imaging before medical school. My interests now include AI and possibly IR as well. In my free time I enjoy traveling the world and making travel videos for my YouTube channel, taking photos for my Instagram account, cooking unique Asian cuisine, playing basketball at LA Fitness, and feeding my super needy cat "Meow-Meow."
	Melody Jiang, D.O. Hometown: Dallas, Texas Medical school: University of North Texas Health Science Center, College of Osteopathic Medicine About me: I chose Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville because of our faculty’s dedication to teaching and the wide variety of pathology. In my free time, I love practicing yoga, listening to podcasts/audiobooks, traveling with my fiance, and spoiling my pet bunny, Marshmallow.

	Anthony Chuprin, M.D. Hometown: Brooklyn, NY Medical school: Eastern Virginia Medical School About me: Born and raised in NYC, I’ve since chosen to try out life in Virginia (medical school) and currently Florida (residency). Outside of work, I like to push my horizons further by travelling, also working out, practicing Jiu Jitsu, and playing tennis.
	Ryan Hoffman, D.O. Hometown: Texas Medical school: Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine, New York About me: I chose Mayo Clinic for the outstanding teaching, the plethora of complex cases to learn from, and extensive hands-on procedural experience. In my free time, I like to play ice hockey, golf, surf, try out new restaurants, and relax with my wife and dog.
	Mudassir Syed, D.O. Hometown: Dansville, NY Medical school: New York College of Osteopathic Medicine of NYIT About me: My current academic interests include vascular and interventional radiology. In my spare time I enjoy reading, watching cooking shows, and following soccer.
	Michael Villalba, D.O. Hometown: Miami, FL Medical school: Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine About me: I have broad interests in radiology with current research focused on musculoskeletal and interventional radiology. My wife and I spend much of our time taking our son and dog to the beach. I also enjoy exploring local breweries or playing video games with friends.

Class of 2023

	Tony Azar, M.D. Hometown: Beirut, Lebanon Medical school: University of Arizona College of Medicine About me: Moved across the country to be part of this program and its been a blast. In my free time I enjoy traveling, spending time on the beach, watching soccer, and playing on the Mayo Clinic soccer team where we just recently won our league.
	Matthew Dudgeon, M.D., M.B.A. Hometown: Louisville, KY Medical school: University of Louisville School of Medicine About me: My wife, Allison, and I are both from Louisville, Kentucky. We are expecting our first baby soon! I am participating in the ABR Dual Certification in Diagnostic and Nuclear Radiology. We plan to move back to Louisville once completing residency, and I hope to take a job reading both nuclear and generals.
	Matt McCann, M.D. Hometown: Huntsville, AL/Lexington, KY Medical school: University of Kentucky College of Medicine About me: I’m originally from Huntsville, AL, but grew up in Lexington, KY. When not at work, I enjoy running, noodling around on the guitar, trivia, and going to the beach.
	Inna Robrahn, M.D. Hometown: Ryazan, Russia/Phoenix Medical school: Ryazan State Medical University (Russia) About me: Being a physician was my dream since childhood. At the time of applying to residency, I had been working with Ultrasound for many years, and can not imagine going anywhere else but Radiology. Outside of work, I enjoy taking care of my family, including toddler twin boys and four legged fur daughter. I love running, bicycling, and decorating projects around the house.
