Positions
There is one position available on a competitive basis each year in the Esophageal Diseases Fellowship.
Qualifications
Candidates for the Esophageal Diseases Fellowship must have completed three years of post-M.D. training in internal medicine and completed subspecialty training in gastroenterology.
Superior achievement as evidenced by a strong academic record and appropriate recommendations is essential. Ideally, the applicant will be board eligible in gastroenterology before enrolling in the fellowship.
Candidates must have demonstrated a specific interest in esophageal disease and have been ideally involved in esophageal research during prior training. They must show commitment to initiating an academic career in esophagology. International medical graduates applying must meet established Mayo Clinic criteria for international fellows.
If the position remains unfilled in the December prior to the July start date, the program will consider applications from those who graduated from an ACGME-accredited internal medicine residency program in the United States or Canada.

Mayo's academic year begins in July. You must submit a completed application form and all required documentation no later than Sept. 15 the previous year.

Applicants considered for an appointment will be invited for a personal interview with the program director and selected faculty.
The timing of interviews varies each year.
