Mayo Clinic radiologists and staff provide the highest quality diagnostic and interventional imaging services in a caring and efficient manner, while sustaining outstanding programs in research and education.

The division of interventional radiology is staffed by seven board certified interventional radiologists that bring a wealth of diverse clinical experience and research interests to your training. Their broad training throughout the country, connections in the field, and research footprint will not only strengthen your training but also facilitate your search for academic and private practice positions towards the end of your residency.

The Department of Radiology is fully integrated with all the medical services available at Mayo Clinic. More than 60 radiologists and five physicists cooperate with hundreds of support staff to provide diagnostic and therapeutic radiology services to patients.

Experts in all areas of radiology consult with specialists in other departments to provide the best care to every patient every day, consistent with Mayo's mission. Radiologists work with state-of-the-art equipment, assisted by skilled technologists and nurses, to perform and interpret more than 320,000 examinations yearly. This large number of cases, integrated with ongoing research and education, results in wide-ranging expertise in the imaging and treatment of diseases affecting patients of all ages.

In addition to caring for patients in their clinical practices, Mayo Clinic's faculty members are committed to teaching and facilitating the growth of medical knowledge. Many of our faculty have published and lectured extensively and are recognized leaders in their fields. You have direct access to these individuals throughout residency.

Advisers and mentors

You are assigned a faculty adviser who can provide comprehensive educational advice and personal support. Biannual meetings are held to discuss your needs and performance as well as provide you with comprehensive educational advice and personal support. Your adviser also serves as a contact point, introducing you and your family to Jacksonville, Florida, and the Mayo Clinic system.

Thank you for your interest in the Mayo Clinic Integrated Interventional Radiology Residency in Jacksonville, Florida! We hope you are as excited about the future of interventional radiology as we are.

The integrated program is dedicated to outstanding diagnostic and interventional training. The Florida campus boasts more than 60 radiology faculty, including world-renowned educators and researchers committed to excellence in clinical practice, education, and research. Our interventional practice includes not only a high volume of cases but also a wide variety.  

As a destination medical center with world-class clinical divisions, Mayo Clinic attracts a diverse patient population. Our five-year training allows residents to be exposed to a broad variety of rare pathologies. A renowned solid organ transplantation program, as well as leading medical and surgical oncology programs drives countless complex patients to receive consultation, imaging, and procedural care at our facility. These consultative practices are valued colleagues that work with us to provide integrated subspecialty patient care in interventional oncology, transplantation, pulmonary intervention, arterial and venous intervention including complex IVC filter retrieval, women’s and men’s health, gastrointestinal and genitourinary intervention, liver disease and portal hypertension.

The division of interventional radiology is a leader in interventional oncology.  We have a dedicated IR clinic that focuses on the complete care of our patients. As an institution, we are one of the highest volume radioembolization centers in the country. We are consistently using the newest technology when applicable, including irreversible electroporation of pancreatic tumors (in collaboration with hepatobiliary surgery) and MR-guided focused ultrasound ablation of prostate cancer (in collaboration with urology). Our ever-expanding facilities in Jacksonville, Florida, include a 3D Printing Lab and a new Artificial Intelligence Lab, as well as our state-of-the-art equipment. 

Our faculty is passionate about patient care, teaching, and research. The Mayo Clinic Leadership Model promotes inspiring these values in our own trainees, engaging colleagues, driving results, and thinking in a bold and forward way.  Our faculty-to-resident ratio provides trainees with extensive one-on-one teaching.  Mayo Clinic resources will not only provide outstanding clinical education, but also provide you with research collaboration, mentoring, teaching, and leadership opportunities.
