How to apply

The academic year begins in July.

The application and all supporting documentation must be submitted by Sept. 16 of the year preceding the program start date.

You must apply through SF Match, a third-party application service. Please do not send materials to Mayo Clinic Ophthalmology.

  1. Visit the SF Match website

  2. Appointments are made through the Ophthalmology Fellowship Match, which is coordinated by SF Match and sponsored by the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology.
  3. Applicants considered for an appointment will be invited to visit Mayo Clinic for a personal interview with the program director and selected faculty. Interviews will be conducted in October and November the year prior to the appointment.

During the interview, the applicant has an opportunity to meet residents and postgraduate fellows, Mayo Clinic faculty physicians of the retina service, and other staff members who are intimately involved in the training of the medical retina fellow.
