Besides the warm weather and the beautiful scenery, I noticed the immense focus in our education and professional success during my interview at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. Since day one, I have felt welcomed by the culture and legacy of Mayo. Living in Phoenix has been a great experience, as there are plenty of activities in and around the city. A weekend escape to Sedona or Flagstaff is easy, and we have all the major sports and a great quality of life.

On the day of the interview, I got the sense the faculty really cared about the fellows and invested heavily in them. The attendings seemed to have such camaraderie, and I really wanted to be a part of that. Plus, I knew I would be exposed to some of the most interesting nephrology cases. All these predictions were correct! The attendings care deeply about us fellows and ensure we have a very positive experience all along the way. I have never had so much support, investment, and guidance as I have from these attendings. And the “Mayo culture” is real and infectious. I love working with everyone here. Living in Phoenix, I’ve forgotten what it is like to feel cold! It is fun to know that the weather is predictable and warm all year round. The Mayo team has equipped me with every tool I could need. I feel ready to practice nephrology independently!

I chose to pursue nephrology fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Arizona after having the opportunity to rotate on the general nephrology service as a medicine resident.  I was inspired by the comprehensive understanding of physiology, teamwork, and compassionate care demonstrated by the consultants. The experience provided excellent exposure to high acuity and extremely complex patient cases. Each day on the service, I continue to feel encouraged by the decision to expand my clinical experience and training.  I am very grateful to learn from and work with such kind and dedicated staff members that promote such a positive learning environment.

I chose to pursue my General Nephrology Fellowship with Mayo Clinic in Arizona because of the incredible experience I had during my away rotation here as an internal medicine resident.  I was deeply impressed by the welcoming and collaborative culture, where the teaching attendings fostered a supportive yet intellectually challenging environment that pushed me to improve my critical thinking skills. The comprehensive clinical experience, combined with the opportunity to learn from nationally recognized faculty, made Mayo Clinic in Arizona the perfect place for me to advance my training and become a well-rounded nephrologist. Beyond the exceptional academic environment, Arizona's beautiful hiking trails offer a perfect balance for maintaining wellness and an active lifestyle.
