Positions

One position is available on a competitive basis each year in the Neuro-Ophthalmology Fellowship at Mayo Clinic's campus in Jacksonville, Florida.

Qualifications

Completion of an accredited residency training program in ophthalmology or neurology and eligibility for certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology or the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology is required before the fellowship begins. International fellowship applicants must have equivalent training and have passed the ECFMG examination.

Note: J1 visas are not supported for this fellowship. See the Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) homepage for alternative options. Admissions requirements are subject to program-specific board, state licensing, and ECFMG guidelines.

How to apply

Our clinical fellowship position will be filled through the neuro-ophthalmology fellowship match which is part of the AUPO Ophthalmology Fellowship Match with SF Match. All AUPO compliant neuro-ophthalmology programs will participate in this match.

Applications open June 28, 2024, with the submission deadline of Aug. 21, 2024. Mayo Clinic's academic year begins in July.

To apply to our program:

  1. Visit the SF Match website and register.
  2. Select “ophthalmology” under fellowship match (there is no separate “neuro-ophthalmology” category, but you will have a chance to choose the neuro-ophthalmology programs of your choice later in the application).
  3. All applications to Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education (MCSGME) programs must include these application materials.
In addition to these materials, please include:
    • Short supplemental form (required)
    • Personal statement
    • Three letters of recommendation
  4. Finally, select the Neuro-ophthalmology fellowships you would like to apply to, including ours.

Interviews will then be scheduled for the Fall and the match will occur in early December.
