Application Process

Positions

One position is available on a competitive basis each year in the Neurocritical Care Fellowship at Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota.

Qualifications

To be eligible for the Neurocritical Care Fellowship, you must have completed either:

  • An accredited residency program in neurology, neurological surgery, internal medicine, anesthesiology, surgery, child neurology or emergency medicine
  • A minimum of four years of postgraduate clinical training in neurosurgery and be currently enrolled in a neurosurgery residency accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada

For foreign medical graduates, Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education will accept only those who have a J-1 Visa sponsored by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates.

How to apply

The academic year begins July 1.

The application and all supporting documentation must be submitted by March 15 of the year preceding the program start date.

You must apply through SF Match, a third-party application service.

  1. Visit the SF Match website to register as an applicant. Fill out a Central Application Service (CAS) application form, provide the required documents and select our program for distribution. All applications to Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education programs must include these application materials.
  2. Appointments are made through the Neurocritical Care Fellowship Match, which is coordinated by SF Match and sponsored by the Neurocritical Care Society.
  3. Applicants considered for an appointment will be invited to visit Mayo Clinic for a personal interview with the program director and selected faculty. Interviews are typically conducted between March and June each year.
