What attracted you to pediatric cardiology?
I am a visual learner and love that pediatric cardiology is such a visual specialty. I am able to imagine the blood going through the heart, which helps to solidify my knowledge.
What attracted you to Mayo Clinic for fellowship training?
I was attracted to Mayo Clinic based on the flexibility of what I can do, especially after the first year. Also, I was impressed with the strength of the adult congenital program, as I have a background in combined internal medicine and pediatrics (med-peds).
How is your fellowship at Mayo Clinic going?
Everyone has been very welcoming and collegial. I'm excited to see how much I grow as I become even more comfortable with Mayo and all that it has to offer.
Did anything surprise you about Mayo Clinic's program?
So far it's been nice to see how well-done everything has been, including the organization of orientation, the day-to-day processes of rounding and team dynamics.
What is living in Rochester, Minnesota, like for you?
With a young family, I really couldn't ask for much more. Mayo offers an extensive list of programs for kids, families, pets and spouses.
Everything is very accessible in Rochester, and the worst traffic I've experienced was waiting for cars to pass while I was backing out of my parking spot in the Mayo Clinic parking ramp. Overall, it's easy to feel right at home.
