Clinical training
The Plastic Surgery Residency focuses on technical and clinical training during 1:1 rotations with a dedicated faculty mentor. This allows continuity of education between the clinic, operating room, and hospital settings.
In addition, we have a structured, comprehensive curriculum that includes:
- Protected education time for didactic conferences
- Microvascular skills course and frequent microvascular training sessions
- Cadaver labs and access to anatomy specimens for focused teaching on surgical anatomy and specific procedures
- Nationally and internationally renowned plastic surgery visiting professors
- Faculty-led journal clubs discussing current literature
- International cleft education trip and access to the Mayo International Health Program (MIHP)
- Access to our world class Mayo Clinic Continuing Medical Education (CME) courses
- Research training and support for residents to attend and present at national and international conferences (up to five per year)
