Didactic training
A Sports Medicine Conference is held weekly during which key topics in sports medicine are reviewed to prepare you for practice and the CAQ exam. In addition, many weekly conference opportunities are available in PMR, physical therapy, orthopedics, spine, and beyond.
In addition, a weekly Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Conference is held in our state-of-the-art simulation center. This longitudinal course consists of didactic learning session balanced by US scanning with standardized patients, and hands-on procedural training with a cadaver lab.
You're expected to present case reports and/or research at several national and regional sports medicine conferences throughout the year. The program reimburses you for travel expenses related to conferences at which you present and will also pay for you to attend a separate continuing medical education (CME) conference of your choosing up to five days a year.
Research training
Advancing the science and application of medicine through research is highly regarded at Mayo Clinic. you're required to participate in sports medicine research during the year and are expected to publish or present (or both) your findings in peer-reviewed or juried settings.
Many research projects are always underway at the Jacksonville campus of Mayo Clinic which provides opportunities for your participation. You're also offered financial and academic support for individual research related to your unique interests in sports medicine. Mayo Clinic is proud to offer sought-after research resources such as biostatisticians, illustration, editing, and media services to improve the efficiency of scholarly activity.
