Our Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship welcomes talented trainees from across the United States and around the world. With diverse backgrounds and experiences, our fellows bring unique perspectives that enrich our program. Meet some of our current fellows and discover their interests both in and beyond the clinic.

Class of 2026

Spencer Deleveaux, M.D.

Medical school: University of the West Indies Faculty of Medical Sciences

Why did you choose to train at Mayo Clinic? I chose to train at Mayo Clinic for the opportunity to learn from expert mentors, enjoy the warm weather, and gain experience at a referral center with exposure to rare pathologies.

Hobbies: In my free time I enjoy running and cycling.

Favorite things to do in Jacksonville: Some of my favorite activities include going to the beach.

Why did you choose to train at Mayo Clinic? I chose to purse my pulmonary and critical care fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville because, as a Jacksonville native, I love the city and knew the program’s exceptional reputation, outstanding attendings, and dedicated staff would provide me with top-tier training to excel in my career.

Hobbies: In my free time I enjoy relaxing at the beach, staying active with jogs and basketball, and cherishing moments spent with family and friends.

Favorite things to do in Jacksonville: Some of my favorite activities include kayaking along the St. Johns River, relishing the city’s tasty food, and rooting for the Jaguars, and Jumbo Shrimp.

Why did you choose to train at Mayo Clinic? I chose to train at Mayo Clinic after my interview, as I felt that the faculty was very invested in me and my career interests. Additionally, I was interested in the diverse patient population and unique pathology that we have the opportunity to see on a daily basis.

Hobbies: In my spare time I enjoy fitness (love Peloton!), reading, and trying new restaurants.

Favorite things to do in Jacksonville: Some of my favorite activities include beach running and exploring nearby towns (St. Augustine, Amelia Island, etc.)

Why did you choose to train at Mayo Clinic? From the moment I set foot on campus, I fell in love with the program. I love the culture here, and the relationships the fellows have with each other and with their attendings. At Mayo, I get hands-on training from experts in the field, and see a diverse spectrum of diseases, from common to rare conditions.

Hobbies: In my spare time I love hiking, kayaking, weightlifting, and listening to history podcasts.

Favorite things to do in Jacksonville: Some of my favorite things to do is relax on the beach and explore the many different restaurants Jacksonville has to offer.

Why did you choose to train at Mayo Clinic? I chose Mayo Clinic because I wanted exposure to a medically complex patient population, including transplant recipients, as well as advanced, innovative healthcare technologies. I also really appreciated the multidisciplinary, team-based approach Mayo emphasizes in caring for its patients on a daily basis.

Hobbies: Outside of work I enjoy playing violin, chess, and watching movies or bowling with friends.

Favorite things to do in Jacksonville: My favorite things to do in Jacksonville are attending sporting/concert events and trying out new restaurants.

Why did you choose to train at Mayo Clinic? I chose Mayo for the diverse pulmonary pathology and procedures. I have been able to see very rare pathologies and work them up as a fellow. I also love the pulmonary faculty and love their support.

Hobbies: Outside of medicine, I love to run and spend time with my kids.

Favorite things to do in Jacksonville: My favorite thing to do in Jacksonville is go the beach! We go almost every week.

Why did you choose to train at Mayo Clinic? I chose Mayo Clinic for fellowship because of its unparalleled technology, strong culture of teamwork, and genuine camaraderie align perfectly with my values of innovation and compassionate, collaborative care.

Hobbies: In my free time I love exploring new places, discovering diverse culinary flavors, and embracing new experiences.

Favorite things to do in Jacksonville: Some of my favorite things to do in Jacksonville is unwinding at Jacksonville's beautiful beaches, exploring the nearby natural springs, and soaking in the vibrant atmosphere of Town Center and San Marco.

Why did you choose to train at Mayo Clinic? I chose to train at Mayo Clinic in Florida for its exceptional people and collaborative culture. I wanted to learn from and be challenged by the best, and I wanted to be part of a team that is shaping the future of medicine.

Hobbies: In my spare time I enjoy lounging, swimming, or surfing at the beach, riding my bike, and wandering through nature trails.

Favorite things to do in Jacksonville: Some of my favorite things about Jacksonville include all outdoor activities, visiting the Arboretum or the Cummer Museum, attending symphony concerts, and dining out.

Why did you choose to train at Mayo Clinic? I chose Mayo Clinic for its collaborative culture, world-class clinical training, and strong emphasis on patient-centered care. The opportunity to learn alongside outstanding colleagues in a supportive environment was an easy decision for me. Additionally, my fiancé is a resident at Mayo Clinic, making Jacksonville the right place to build both my personal and professional life.

Hobbies: In my spare time I enjoy golfing, cooking, traveling, and watching all sports (Go Birds!).

Favorite things to do in Jacksonville: Some of my favorite things to do in Jacksonville include playing golf at the many incredible courses, trying new recipes at home, spending time at the beach, and exploring the local food scene.

Mayo Fellows Association (MFA)

The Mayo Fellows Association (MFA) offers a peer and social support network for residents and fellows and their families with social events, athletics, and advocacy. The MFA also holds an annual resident and fellow appreciation event open to all trainees with complimentary massages, stress-reducing activities, and social support.
