I feel fortunate to have trained at Mayo Clinic’s Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellowship. During my time here, I have had the opportunity to comprehensively manage fertility care and treatments, expand my skillset in reproductive surgery, and participate in translational research. The faculty are an assembly of nationally- and internationally known experts in a variety of topics; however, they are all extremely approachable and learning from their expertise is invaluable. Most importantly, the providers, nurses, and support staff are a great group of people that make Mayo Clinic a fun place to work every day.

The Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility fellowship at Mayo Clinic has prepared me for anything I will encounter in this profession. The clinical experience is second to none, with the opportunity to manage a thriving IVF service and directly participate in all aspects of patient care, perform and manage the most complex reproductive surgery cases referred from all over the world, and even complete an original translational thesis project in collaboration with both clinical and basic scientist mentors. Not only are we learning and mastering the most up to date practices within the field, but pushing beyond what is known to create the future standard of care.

This fellowship is the ideal training package for any prospective fellow. I feel incredibly fortunate to have trained at such a supportive and well-rounded program and it fulfilled my strong desire for substantial surgical experience, offering extensive reproductive surgery opportunities along with IVF training. The program's research opportunities are unmatched, with abundant resources and a strong culture of interdepartmental collaboration, all complemented by dedicated funding right from the start. The camaraderie among co-fellows, consultants, and co-workers is exceptional, fostering mentorship and lasting friendships. Finally, despite the cold winters, Rochester embraces a warm, family-centric atmosphere, making it an outstanding and safe place to live while pursuing this fulfilling journey.

Mayo Clinic is the ultimate package for a Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility fellow. We get excellent training in REI procedures such as embryo transfers and oocyte retrievals, see diverse infertility issues and endocrinopathies in the clinic, participate in cutting-edge basic science and clinical research, and regularly perform challenging gynecologic surgeries. To top it off, we work with an amazing, supportive team of nurses and providers in the REI Division.

The REI fellowship program at Mayo Clinic excels at fostering an appropriate balance between guided autonomy and critical thinking. My clinical and research experience at Mayo Clinic far exceeded my expectations, which was further validated once I moved on to post-training clinical practice. The ability to perform egg retrievals, embryo transfers, and complex reproductive surgery as a first-year fellow not only instilled confidence in me but also demonstrated the level of trust the program has in its fellows. From the variety of clinical pathologies encountered to the incredible research support and opportunities available, the program is set up to help you flourish as a physician and scientist.

I appreciate having done my fellowship at Mayo Clinic because of how amazing the clinical and surgical experience was for fellows. We were able to be hands-on from the very beginning doing retrievals, embryo transfers, and seeing fertility patients in the clinic. After graduating, I felt very confident in my ability to take care of patients.

My training at Mayo Clinic was the most valuable professional experience in my life. It is the only place I have worked that practices medicine the way it should be practiced. Patients are taken care of, and barriers are eliminated. The Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility division is perfectly balanced with clinical experience, surgical load, ART, and research opportunities. I will be forever thankful for having trained there and learning from their amazing staff.

I can say without reservation there is no place in the world like Mayo Clinic. My years at Mayo were a fundamental part of my education. I was taught by some of the best in the field in an environment centered on learning and research. The three shields of Mayo: patient care, research, and education remain a fundamental part of my practice today. I'm forever grateful for my time there.

In my opinion, Mayo Clinic's Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellowship in Rochester, Minnesota, was and continues to be one of the most well-rounded training programs in the country. The program excels in reproductive surgery and provides in-depth exposure to all facets of fertility care. This includes assisted reproductive techniques (ART) for simple and extremely medically complex patients and all aspects of third-party reproduction. The research opportunities that the program provides are second to none. Finally, the program provides sound mentorship and an excellent work-life balance. I'm so fortunate to have trained at Mayo and even more grateful that I now get to work here every day.

Probably what I valued most was the excellent work/life balance that I was able to enjoy as a fellow. I was working with great colleagues and friends that I respected and learned a lot from. I was (and still am) happily married with four kids and had an active health and fitness lifestyle (I made full use of my membership at the Dan Abraham Healthy Living Center). I would choose Mayo Clinic's Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellowship program again in a heartbeat!

Mentorship played a key role in my success throughout my residency and fellowship at Mayo. When I was training, Mayo was one of the few fellowships in the country that allowed fellows to do actual embryo transfers. When I started my first position post-fellowship, I was fully confident in all of the procedures that I needed to perform. The funding opportunities were also helpful to complete my thesis project during my fellowship.

All the faculty and staff that I interacted with throughout Mayo were very supportive of helping me achieve my personal educational goals. People do a very good job of welcoming newcomers and getting them involved and moving forward quickly. In addition to the great hands-on clinical and surgical experiences, I enjoyed being able to complete both epidemiological research projects and my thesis with a skilled endocrine research team. I was lucky to have wonderful mentors within the REI division, in the broader department of OBGYN, and in the medical endocrinology department. Having this breadth of exposure really helped me to get the most out of the vast resources of a system like Mayo Clinic.
