Advisors and mentors
You will be assigned a staff mentor. A staff surgeon will review your progress and assist in meeting your career goals. The program director will also meet with you individually and with all residents as a group to ensure that your educational needs are met.
Visiting professor program
The Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Mayo Clinic’s campus in Rochester, Minnesota, has the honor of hosting several visiting professors each year.
The Larry H. Hollier Visiting Professor sponsored by the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery started in 2006 and has included the following visiting professors:
- Clement Darling, III, M.D. (2019)
- Ronald L. Dalman, M.D. (2018)
- Richard Cambria, M.D. (2017)
- Peter Lawrence, M.D. (2016)
- Wesley Moore, M.D. (2015)
The agenda typically includes lectures, dinner with the residents and fellows, and resident case presentations. The visiting professor program allows you to meet and learn from established national and international experts, and educators from other institutions who share their specific expertise and contribute significantly to your knowledge and training.
All the staff were welcoming to me as a student on my visiting rotation and made a huge effort to teach. After meeting the residents and staff here, I was eager to emulate them in my training and I feel grateful today to continue to have such phenomenal role models.
