Histology Technician Program graduates: Where are they now?

I had such a rewarding experience at Mayo Clinic. As I progress in my career, I look forward to improving my skills and knowledge as a histology technician and taking on more technical and leadership roles along the way.
Penny Dahlen, HT(ASCP)
Completed the RCTC 1+1 enrollment option and now works as a histology technician in the Mayo Clinic frozen section lab

I went into histology because there were so many opportunities to grow and work in different fields. I saw opportunities to work under every shield, which allows me to go into whatever is best suited for my skills. After my training, I was very prepared for my career. In addition to prepping me specifically for the work itself, I was armed with improved problem solving, co-worker relationship and leadership skills.
Jacob Conway, HTL(ASCP)
After the program, began his career as a histotechnologist in the Mayo Clinic muscle lab, and is now a lead tech in the Mayo Clinic frozen section lab

I have a background in chemistry and was really interested in furthering my career and helping people. Histology facilitated that by allowing me to use my skills in combination with the new class material that I was being exposed to and help people.
Heba Abseh, HTL(ASCP)
Heba was able to translate her background in chemistry into a career and is now a histotechnologist in the Mayo Clinic histology lab
Advancement opportunities for histology technicians
There are many ways you can advance within histology depending on your career goals. Many students go on to advance into leadership, education, and management, or with further training, go onto more research-focused specialized areas, sales and technology support, or quality assurance. Some also use it as a stepping stone to advanced degrees within pathology.
