Curriculum

As a PGY-2 investigational drugs and research resident, you devote much of your time to comprehensive training as a member of the interdisciplinary team. A breadth of learning experiences has been designed to increase and refine your clinical competency, provide evidence-based pharmacotherapeutic care plans, and develop your confidence as an independent practitioner.

You will provide patient-specific investigational drug care services and assist clinical trial teams by managing investigational drug dispensing. Responsibilities include reviewing both cancer and non-cancer clinical trial protocols, directly handling investigational drugs, and working to ensure their safe administration. After coaching, instruction, and modeling by a preceptor, you are assessed and constructively critiqued on how to further refine the delivery of evidence-based recommendations.

You will provide investigational drug information to physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other members of study teams. You will also interact with drug sponsors and other allied health professionals. Feedback is provided to enhance your drug-information retrieval skills using a variety of resources and modalities.
