Clinical Pharmacy Specialist - Solid Organ Transplant

About me: I received my doctorate of pharmacy from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. I completed a general PGY-1 and a transplant PGY-2 at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics. After completing residency, I returned to sunny Arizona as a Clinical Specialist Pharmacist in the Solid Organ Transplant Department at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. I am board certified in both pharmacotherapy and solid organ transplant.

You should know: While work is lovely, I also enjoy life outside of Mayo. My family and I love are foodies and both love trying new restaurants or concocting new recipes at home. When given the chance, you will catch us outside enjoying the Arizona weather or planning our next adventure!

Clinical Pharmacy Specialist - Solid Organ Transplant

About me: I attended the University of Mississippi where I obtained my B.S. in Pharmaceutical Science and Doctorate of Pharmacy. I then completed a PGY-1 at Mayo Clinic in Florida, and PGY-2 at Tampa General in solid organ transplantation. After residency, I moved across the country where I am currently a Clinical Specialist Pharmacist at Mayo Clinic in Arizona in the Solid Organ Transplant Department. I hold board certifications in pharmacotherapy and solid organ transplant.

You should know: I love playing and hanging out with my two dogs, Milo and Pua. I am a big movie buff. On weekends, you can catch me at the movie theater watching the latest flick while trying to escape the Arizona heat. I enjoy exploring, outings with friends, and I am always down for brunch.

From the program director

Transplant recipients are a truly unique and specialized patient population that require a pharmacist to assist with managing the complex medication regimens required to sustain the life of the graft and patient throughout all phases of transplant and healthcare settings. Transplant requires pharmacists to work in the grey area of medicine due to limited in-depth research and guidance available. If you are seeking the opportunity to expand your clinical knowledge towards becoming comfortable critically thinking in the gray area, this is the residency for you. With over 700 transplants completed per year, there is ample opportunity to build the clinical knowledge necessary to independently and effectively practice as a transplant pharmacy specialist.

Our core value, along with Mayo Clinic’s three shields: patient care, education, and research, forms the foundation of our program. Throughout the residency, your solid organ transplant knowledge base will be refined through participation in interdisciplinary rounds, direct patient care, and a rigorous curriculum.

Your growth as a clinician will be further supported by the vast number of clinical, research, and educational resources available to you. Our transplant pharmacists and preceptors are passionate about what they do, from providing compassionate direct patient care to focused training of our residents and students. Throughout this journey, your preceptors will support you every step of the way — helping you expand your skills and tailoring the residency to meet your needs.

A PGY-2 residency is a yearlong commitment to ongoing professional growth in your specialized area of practice. Our goal is to provide a learning environment that promotes innovation and excellence.
