Pharmacy Technician Program graduates: Where are they now?

Our learners come from a variety of backgrounds. You don’t need a medical background or experience in health care to become a pharmacy technician. If you are passionate about helping people and love interacting with patients, but aren’t interested in clinical work, becoming a pharmacy technician could be a wonderful career option. It's one of the few health care professions that works with patients, but does not work with procedures or direct patient care.

See what a few of our graduates have to say about our program and being a pharmacy technician.

2020 Rochester graduate who now works as a pharmacy technician at Mayo Clinic

Out of high school I knew I didn't want to go to college as I like to learn skills that apply to the job I am aiming for. The program allowed me to only take six months to learn the training and knowledge I would need and use as a tech.

I got hands-on training at Mayo which helped when I started working here after the program because I was much more comfortable. The program also helped me gain knowledge to pass the PTCB. I've gotten many opportunities while working here, such as being crossed trained in almost all inpatient areas and currently working as a pediatric pharmacy tech where I really get to apply my skills to the fullest.

With a substantial amount of formal education and training, some technicians go on to become pharmacists later in their careers.
