Why did you choose to specialize in Adult Reconstructive Surgery?

I was initially attracted to orthopedics, and medicine in general, after seeing a hip replacement surgery while shadowing a surgeon as a college sophomore. My adult reconstruction rotations in residency only served to reinforce my desire for this subspecialty. Some of the reasons I enjoy adult reconstruction include: patient satisfaction, restoring mobility and quality of life, which decreases morbidity and potentially, mortality, the instant gratification, and overall great patient outcomes.

What attracted you to Mayo Clinic for fellowship training?

I was attracted by the opportunity to train with individuals and at a center with a renowned reputation of excellence. The innovation, and professionalism, as well as the opportunity to contribute to medical advancement and research, were also big draws.

What makes Adult Reconstructive Surgery fellowship at Mayo Clinic unique?

The breadth and complexity of cases that come through Mayo offers great exposure, and fairly guarantees readiness to tackle any arthroplasty related problem. Additionally, it provides an avenue to develop great mentorship opportunities and professional relationships well into practice.
