Two graduates share video messages about their experiences. Learn about Meggie Chochol, M.D., and Eric Pease, D.O., M.B.A.
"I was excited to stay at Mayo Clinic for fellowship training in Child Psychiatry to learn from a diverse patient population and a group of faculty invested in my growth and development as a psychiatrist.” Eric Pease, D.O., M.B.A.
“I joined Mayo Clinic to complete fellowship due to the emphasis of mentorship, appreciation of education, and opportunities to focus on deeper understanding of the patient and the family system. I feel that Mayo Clinic has been a good place to delve deeply into a topic, as well as have substantial support of multiple experts in the field who are more than willing to drop what they are doing to teach a trainee. Rochester has been a great place to have a short commute to work, explore parks, bike trails, music and is close enough to the Twin Cities to drop by to see a friend or catch a bigger venue.” Forrest Guilfoile, M.D.
“The CAP fellowship provided me with excellent patient care experience and mentorship in psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy. There is a good mix of flexibility and structure.” Hannah Betcher, M.D.
“Mayo has been a wonderful place to train in child psychiatry. Faculty truly care about your development as both a clinician and a person. Mentorship is easy to find and there are endless opportunities to participate in research and education.” Tanner Bommersbach, M.D.
“I loved my time as a child psychiatry fellow while at Mayo Clinic. There are so many opportunities to learn both at Mayo Clinic (such as the young child clinic as well as a world-famous neurology program) as well as in the relationships that the program has fostered over the years (Hazelden-Betty Ford for chemical dependency education, University of Minnesota for early psychosis care). The program is very responsive to feedback from fellows, so it looks completely different (in only positive ways) from when I graduated just 2 years ago. The outpatient fellow clinic redesign has been very well received, both from the fellows and from my position as new faculty.” Keith Miller, M.D.
“The opportunity to work in a state of the art hospital with cutting edge research under the guidance of stalwarts in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry world is what brought me here. The variety of rotations that this place offers to fellows during their training is amazing. I believe it definitely trains you well to become a well-rounded Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. Aside from the excellent academic training that you are assured here, there are lots of outdoor activities that you can enjoy all year round (yes, you read it correct, there are tons of winter outdoor activities that you can do here in Minnesota!)” Sanskriti Mishra, MBBS
“The intensity of focus on always improving the excellent standard of patient care is what drew me to Mayo for General Psychiatry and has kept me here for my Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship. Child and Adolescent Psychiatry consultants are invested in our learning and professional growth, and model the Mayo patient-centered focus in their work.” Janice Malay, M.D., MSW
