Current fellows
CAP 1
Katie Andrews, M.D., Ph.D.Hometown: Plano, TX About me: Hello, I’m Katie. I like iced coffee, video games, movies, and experimenting in the kitchen. I was born and raised in Texas, completed medical and graduate school in Indiana, and adult psychiatry residency training at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. I am excited to be staying here for my CAP fellowship. My passion is neurodevelopmental disorders, especially autism and intellectual disability, and helping people of all ages and their families with these complex disorders. I hope to focus my future clinical practice in this area, as well as teach and conduct research to advance our treatments and management of this dynamic patient population. |

Corey Trowbridge, M.D. (CAP 1)Hometown: Southbury, CT About me: I grew up in Connecticut, staying there for college before moving a whole 90 minutes to New York City to attend Columbia University for medical school. I had a great experience doing my general psychiatry training at Mayo, and I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to continue here for fellowship. While here, my wife gave birth to our lovely daughter, Penelope, who occupies most of our time outside of work. In my (limited) free time, I enjoy playing music, video games, and sports in Rochester with my fellow residents and fellows as well as going on hikes, binging Netflix shows, and eating ice cream at Flapdoodles with my wife. |

Bryan VanDreese, D.O.Hometown: LaCrosse, WI About me: I grew up in La Crosse and eventually settled in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. I attended medical school at A.T. Still University in Missouri and was overjoyed to return to the true Midwest for residency and fellowship at Mayo Clinic. I spend my free time with my spouse and two young children. My hobbies include running, reading, and cooking. |

Jonathan Winegarden, M.D.Hometown: Southfield, MI About me: I'm a product of Detroit, Michigan, and arrived in Rochester after detours through Chicago Medical School and Mumbai, India, where I worked for an NGO opposing human trafficking. I have interests in global health and the intersection of spirituality and psychiatry. Outside of work, I enjoy playing ice hockey, woodworking, and hiking. |
CAP 2
Riddick Blocker, M.D. (Chief fellow)Hometown: About me: My name is Riddick, pronouns are he/him. I’m a native of Charlotte, NC, but moved around the Carolinas a good bit while growing up – attending undergrad at Wofford College and medical school at Medical University of South Carolina. Given my clinical interests in trauma-focused care, ADHD, addiction, and psychotherapy in transitional age youth, I decided to pursue a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Mayo after completing my categorical training here as well. I enjoy reading, movies, groovy 70s rock, playing music, and rehabbing injured wildlife with my spouse who is a veterinarian here in Rochester. |

Liz Fischer, M.D. (Chief fellow)Hometown: St. Paul, MN About me: I'm a Minnesota native who spent seven years in Virginia for my medical training. Discovering (and loving) the field of child and adolescent psychiatry was an unexpected detour in medical school, but I am so glad it led me back to my home state and the opportunity to train at Mayo. During the beautiful Minnesota summers, you will find me enjoying the outdoors by running, hiking, or paddling on one of our many lakes. When the weather isn't as pleasant you can find me on the yoga mat, cuddled on the couch with my cat, tending to my house plants, crafting cocktails, or enjoying culinary delights at local restaurants with my husband. |

Blake Novy, M.D.Hometown: Austin, TX About me: I completed med school close to my hometown in Texas. I then made the unconventional choice to move to Los Angeles, and spent several years working in the music and film industry. I made my way to the Midwest for residency training at Mayo Clinic, and liked it so much that I decided to stay. My clinical interests include transitional age youth, bipolar spectrum disorders, and the role of media on mental health. My wife and I recently had our first child (excluding fur babies), and I’m getting used to the fellow-father role. In the rare event that my infant sleeps, I enjoy video games, guitar, and horror films. |

Helder Yoshii, M.D.Hometown: Sao Paulo, Brazil About me: I am Japanese Brazilian. I am passionate about traveling, exploring different cultures, and trying new food. I enjoy inline and ice skating, and going on hiking adventures. |
