"I took a chance in times of COVID-19 and virtual interviews, moving halfway across the country to complete my clinical chemistry training at Mayo Clinic. I absolutely made the best decision and wouldn't change a single thing if given the opportunity. The people here (both at work and in the community) are friendly, loving, and supportive - I immediately felt like family. The fellowship training is unparalleled, combining a large reference laboratory with multiple specialty labs and a plethora of unique patient cases. I feel prepared for my first director role and know that, when a question arises, I can call the Mayo Clinic fellowship faculty for years to come."

Dr. Fyffe-Freil currently serves as the Director/Associate Director of the Clinical, Special Chemistry, and Public Health and Seized Drug Laboratories, as well as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Microbiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

During the clinical chemistry fellowship, I was able to build connections and learn from experts across a wide variety of specialties, ranging from core laboratory services to data science and artificial intelligence. These relationships and learning experiences were critical in obtaining my first job and have helped me launch a career that I never imagined would be possible. Applying to Mayo Clinic's clinical chemistry fellowship is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I would highly recommend this program to any prospective applicant."
