Meet The Faculty
The Department of Family Medicine provides comprehensive medical evaluations and primary care for patients of all ages in the Jacksonville, Florida, area. Presently, the department has multiple clinics in northeast Florida. At the residency location, we have over 14 full-time faculty members, including two Medicine-Pediatric physicians.

Welcome to the Florida campus of Mayo Clinic! We are excited that you are interested in our residency program. Family medicine is not only an integral part of Mayo Clinic, but it is the foundation of the entire health care system.
Mayo Clinic provides access to the technology that all future family physicians will encounter and need to stay competitive. Our hospital has amazing state-of-the-art equipment, while our community-based family medicine center adjoins the hospital for easy access and continuity.
Our program has a robust didactic curriculum that addresses the entire spectrum of family medicine. All of our residents' schedules are blocked each week, specifically for learning and board preparation. We also provide multiple training sessions at our simulation center, which has numerous programs including obstetrical deliveries, simulated patients and scenarios, and ultrasound-guided evaluations and injections. All of these learning opportunities are designed to teach you the necessary skills to successfully join a group practice or confidently embark on a solo practice.
We have a strong group of dedicated faculty who love to teach. Many of our faculty are nationally recognized for teaching and often travel to train physicians across the country.
Our residents are a talented, cohesive group of individuals who bring life to our program. Following the Mayo Clinic ideal that "the needs of the patients come first," our residents confidently provide medical care to our local community, backed with the knowledge that they have access to experts in virtually all medical specialty areas. In addition, each of our residents learns to lead morning report and hospital rounds, deliver didactic lectures, design research and quality improvement projects, and perform community assessments.

Faculty
In addition to caring for patients in their clinical practices, Mayo Clinic's faculty is committed to teaching and facilitating the growth of medical knowledge. Many of our faculty members have published and lectured extensively and are highly regarded in their fields. Each one regularly participates in our Core Curriculum Seminar. You have direct access to all family medicine faculty members as they precept and guide you throughout the Family Medicine Residency.
Advisers and mentors
Faculty advisers are assigned to provide comprehensive educational advice and personal support. You meet with your advisor periodically throughout the program to review your progress and career goals and ensure that your educational needs are being met. Also, your advisor may serve as a contact point for introducing you and your family to Jacksonville, Florida, and the Mayo Clinic system.
Visiting professors
Many prominent professors visit Mayo Clinic each year. They present their work during lectures, participate in hospital rounds, and have informal discussions with trainees. You are encouraged to take full advantage of these educational opportunities.

Facilities
The Mayo Clinic campus in Jacksonville, Florida, includes a state-of-the-art hospital, which opened in 2008 and has 304 beds, two comprehensive outpatient medical complexes, two active research facilities, full-service laboratories and radiology, and an on-site pharmacy.
More than 310 staff physicians at Mayo Clinic's campus in Florida represent more than 50 clinical specialties. The campus has more than 400,000 patient visits a year.
Our family medicine resident-faculty practice located on the Mayo Clinic campus is a certified Level 2 Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) by the National Committee for Quality Assurance. In addition, as an institution, we are transforming to the Mayo Model of Community Care, which encompasses many of the PCMH requirements and more.
