Application Process

Positions

There are one or two positions available in the Hematopathology Fellowship each year on a competitive basis.

Qualifications

To apply for the Hematopathology Fellowship, you must have met one of the following:

  • Primary certification in one of the following:
    • Anatomic & Clinical Pathology
    • Anatomic Pathology
    • Clinical Pathology from the ABPath or American Osteopathic Board of Pathology
  • Subspecialty certification in Hematology by a member board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or a certifying board of the American Osteopathic Association in internal medicine or pediatrics with American Board of Internal Medicine, American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine, American Board of Pediatrics, or American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics
  • Successfully completed at least two years of an ACGME accredited pathology residency training program in the U.S. or Canada

How to apply

Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education does not process printed applications to this program. You must apply through Recruit, a third-party application service. No matching program services are used.

Mayo's academic year begins in July. Applications are accepted and reviewed year-round for this fellowship. We recommend submitting applications by July two years prior to the desired start date.

Complete the following steps to apply:

  1. Create an account to begin the online Application for Admission
  2. All applications to Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education programs must include these application materials
  3. After submission, view the required Supplemental Items and Documents
    • Upload each required item in the Supplemental Items section (if applicable)
    • Complete the Recommendation Request section (if applicable)

In addition to the standard application materials required by Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education, this program requires:

  • A letter of recommendation from your current program director (for a total of three recommendation letters). This must be completed in the Recommendation Request section. The recommender will receive an email with a link to upload a letter.

Applicants considered for an appointment will be invited for a personal interview with the program director and selected faculty.
