Elizaveta Flerova, M.D.

Residency: Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA
Background: Dr. Elizaveta (Liza) Flerova was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia. She obtained their medical degree at Pavlov State Medical University in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Her residency was completed at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, PA. In her spare time, she enjoys birdwatching, hiking, and exploring new places.
Why did you chose Mayo Clinic for your fellowship? I chose Mayo Clinic for my Hematopathology Fellowship because of its patient-centered approach, high professionalism standards, and a strong commitment to trainee education. After my interview, I left feeling inspired , fulfilled, and confident that Mayo Clinic is ideal place for my professional growth. Alma Oskarsdottir, M.D.
Medical school: University of Iceland Medical School, Reykjavík, Iceland
Residency: Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN
Background: Dr. Alma Oskarsdottir was born and raised in Iceland. She completed here doctorate of medicine at the University of Iceland Medical School in Reykjavík. Prior to her residency at Mayo Clinic, she worked in both anatomic and clinical pathology departments at the National University Hospital of Iceland. In her free time, Dr. Oskarsdottir enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, traveling, and working on improving her knitting skills.
Why did you chose Mayo Clinic for your fellowship? I chose Mayo Clinic for my Hematopathology Fellowship because of the division’s commitment to patient care, diagnostic excellence, and strong dedication to education. The program offers a unique learning environment through exposure to a wide variety of cases, access to advanced diagnostic techniques, and the support of experienced faculty and staff. Through my residency, I experienced the collaborative environment within the division and I feel very grateful for the opportunity to continue my training at Mayo Clinic.
Mayo Fellows Association (MFA)
The Mayo Fellows Association (MFA) offers a peer and social support network for residents and fellows and their families with social events, athletics, and advocacy. The MFA also holds an annual resident and fellow appreciation event open to all trainees with complimentary massages, stress-reducing activities, and social support.
