Sammer Elwasila, M.D.

Sammer Elwasila, M.D.What do you love most about the Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville? Having a wealth of clinical experience to call upon certainly helps when developing a practice, and it was key for me to train at a program where both diversity and depth perfectly characterize the complexity of the cases. World-class faculty, a collegial atmosphere, mentors who inspire the best in their trainees, and access to expansive resources have been the highlights of my experience.

Medical school: St. Maarten American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, Cupecoy, Sint Maarten
Residency: Internal Medicine, Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, FL

Jared Nelson, D.O.

Jared Nelson, D.O.What attracted you to this fellowship? I chose to do my fellowship training at Mayo Clinic's campus in Jacksonville, Florida, because it provided the best opportunity to see the cases and learn the information that I would need to be a successful infectious diseases physician. As a major tertiary center, we saw patients from all over the United States and across the world. This provided a unique opportunity to see the various ways medicine is practiced in other areas and to see a wide variety of cases.

Medical school: Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Erie, PA
Residency: Internal Medicine, Greenville Health Systems, Greenville, SC
