How did Mayo Clinic help you reach your career goals?

The focus on a three shield approach and mentorship model allowed me to develop first the clinical skill set needed to become a competent and safe general neurosurgeon, but then advance my understanding of stereotactic and functional neurosurgery through various focused experiences, research opportunities, support to present at multiple conferences, and rotations to the other Mayo Clinic sites. This allowed me the flexibility and resources to build a strong academic resume prior to graduation.

Graduated: 2020

Current position: Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, Florida

What attracted you to Mayo Clinic?

I grew up hearing about Mayo Clinic all the time, and when I had the opportunity to interview for residency, I fell in love with the patient focus. All of the physicians believe in the mentality that the needs of the patient come first. This completely put Mayo Clinic at the top of my list.
