Hometown: Abeokuta, Nigeria
Medical school: Morehouse School of Medicine
About me: I was born in Nigeria and my family moved to the United States when I was young, and grew up mostly in Alabama. I attended UAB in Birmingham for college and then Morehouse School of Medicine for my M.D. I currently serve as chief resident of our program. My interests are in resident education, spine oncology, and translational basic science with an emphasis on targeted therapy. I completed an enfolded Neurosurgical Oncology fellowship under the mentorship of Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa focused on the treatment of brain and spine cancers. I received an NREF grant and spent my PGY-6 year in the laboratory for a project using microparticles targeted therapy for treatment of spine tumors. During my time here I have implemented a monthly cadaveric course for the residents to go through spine dissections and approaches. After graduation I will be spending a year at Brown for a fellowship in Complex Spine and Spinal Oncology. When not operating or researching, I love to spend time with my wife, one-year-old son, and one-month-old daughter.

About me: My dream is to become a neurosurgeon who can provide the best care for patients, at the highest level possible. I was fascinated by the neurosurgery training model at Mayo Clinic, and the tremendous clinical and operative experience coupled with research and educational activities. I was impressed by the friendly, yet professional work environment, where all team members maintain the needs of the patient as the utmost priority. Indeed, Mayo Clinic is a perfect fit for my career aspirations.
