We anticipate that one trainee will complete the program annually.
Qualifications
To be eligible for the Pediatric Dermatology Fellowship, you must have:
- A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent
- Completed an approved ACGME general dermatology residency program (many trainees have completed additional fellowship or research training before applying to the program)
- Eligibility to sit for the General Dermatology Qualifying Examination offered through the American Board of Surgery

How to apply
The application and all supporting documentation must be submitted through the SF Match application Service. The position begins on first week of July.
- To apply to the program, please register with the San Francisco Match (SF Match) www.sfmatch.org.
- The match opens in April-October.
- Match day is in November.
Applicants considered for an appointment will be invited to visit Phoenix Children's Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, for a personal interview with the program director and selected faculty.
Curriculum
Clinical training
Upon completion of our fellowship program, you will possess a comprehensive and extensive understanding of both rare and infrequent pediatric skin disorders, including the care of medically intricate pediatric patients affected by skin conditions and specialized surgical techniques for young patients.
You will enjoy a unique learning experience in the operating room, where you will collaborate with a perioperative team and a pediatric anesthesia team while treating pediatric patients under general anesthesia. Our program excels in its multidisciplinary approach, with fellows actively engaging in case presentations, leading discussions, instructing other medical professionals on pediatric skin conditions, and providing education to patients and families within these clinics, all while working closely with their subspecialty colleagues in a collaborative, team-based setting.
Research opportunities
The program fosters a research-forward environment, where you are encouraged to participate in ongoing projects or initiate your own investigations. With access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources, you can explore cutting-edge topics such as genodermatoses, pediatric skin cancer, and laser therapy for vascular birthmarks, among others.

Mentorship
Our program emphasizes the importance of personal and professional growth through individualized mentorship. You are matched with faculty mentors who provide guidance on research projects, clinical decision-making, and career planning. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to attend national conferences and network with other pediatric dermatology professionals.
Evaluation
To ensure that you acquire adequate knowledge and develop the appropriate technical skills to meet program expectations, your performance is monitored carefully during the program. You are evaluated formally by the supervising faculty member after each clinical rotation, and you will meet with the program director to review these evaluations. In addition, you will also regularly evaluate the faculty to ensure that your educational needs are being met.

Faculty
About the program director
Dr. Elizabeth Dupuy is a board-certified dermatologist at Phoenix Children's. She speaks both English and Spanish. A native of Phoenix, Dr. Dupuy enjoys working in the community where she grew up.
Dr. Dupuy earned her medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Next, she completed a three-year pediatric residency, followed by a three-year dermatology residency—both at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine/UCLA Medical Center Program. After her residencies, Dr. Dupuy completed a pediatric dermatology fellowship at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.
Dr. Dupuy holds board certifications through the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Dermatology. She also belongs to the Society for Pediatric Dermatology, the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery and the Women's Dermatologic Society. A contributor to research within the dermatology field, she has multiple peer-reviewed publications.
With both of her parents working in healthcare, Dr. Dupuy was inspired to become a doctor. She strives to treat her patients the way she would want her own family to be treated. Outside her practice, she enjoys spending time with her family and being outdoors - with proper sun protection, of course!
Full-time pediatric surgeons at Phoenix Children’s Hospital serve as faculty with a diverse background including advanced MIS, trauma/critical care, oncology, and neonatal surgery. In addition, faculty members actively participate in research within the institution as well as serving as primary investigators in multi-institutional research projects.

You will gain hands-on experience treating a diverse range of pediatric dermatological conditions at Phoenix Children's, which is recognized as one of the top healthcare facilities in the nation. Under the guidance of our experienced faculty, you will manage complex cases, develop proficiency in various diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, and work alongside interdisciplinary teams to provide holistic, patient-centered care.
The fellowship curriculum is designed to provide a strong foundation in pediatric dermatology, covering topics such as common and rare skin disorders, immunohematology, and procedural dermatology. You will also have access to a vast array of educational resources, including didactic sessions, and multidisciplinary conferences, to facilitate your growth and development as clinicians and researchers.

As a resident or fellow at Mayo Clinic in Arizona, you have access to an exclusive learners-only gym and wellness center conveniently located in Phoenix. Additionally, Mayo Clinic residents or fellows at our three campuses get discounted membership fees to area gyms through PerkSpot, the Mayo Clinic employee discount program.
All Arizona learners can also sign up to take fitness classes and health workshops through the department of Integrative Medicine and Health or through the Mayo Clinic Well-Being program.
Groups on campus
Opportunities to join a variety of groups on campus provide regular social activities and can help enhance your training while connecting with a broad group of peers.
Trainees have the opportunity to join a Mayo Employee Resource Group (MERG) at any time during their training program. MERGs are employee-led affinity groups to promote belonging, increase cultural awareness, and foster an environment of respect and inclusivity. Any Mayo Clinic employee can join a group of interest and choose their level of involvement.
Well-being
The Office of Academic Support and Well-Being provides resources to promote academic, emotional, social, cognitive, financial, and physical well-being. Career and academic services include academic advising, peer tutoring, and accommodations for learners with disabilities or health conditions. Mental health services, counseling, interview practice, and a variety of enrichment sessions on topics like budgeting, resiliency, and stress and burn-out are also available through the Academic Support and Well-Being office.

Mayo Fellows Association (MFA)
The Mayo Fellows Association (MFA) offers a peer and social support network for residents and fellows and their families with social events, athletics, and advocacy. The MFA also holds an annual resident and fellow appreciation event open to all trainees with complimentary massages, stress-reducing activities, and social support.
