Rotation schedule
All rotations are carefully selected by the program director and associate program director to provide what is necessary for plastic surgery resident education. Rotations are selected to provide exposure to a diverse population of patients encompassing the full spectrum of patients and plastic surgery problems.
During the residency, residents spend more than half of their clinical time rotating at the home institution — Mayo Clinic Hospital in Jacksonville.
Off-campus rotations are one-to-three months in length, and all sites are within a 15- or 20-minute drive of Mayo Clinic Hospital, except for a one-month rotation in burn surgery at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida, in Gainesville. Mayo provides housing for this rotation.
