From the Program Director

Our Pharmacy Informatics Residency started in 2015 and we pride ourselves in customizing learning opportunities to the interests of the resident. Our goal is to prepare pharmacy informaticists with the broad range of skills to succeed in pharmacy informatics at any institution while also exposing the resident to the informatics specialization that occurs at Mayo Clinic.

As a PGY-2 Informatics resident, you will support and enhance the medication use process applying informatics principles to a broad array of technologies. We are excited to offer a new staffing role starting in 2023 that teaches data acquisition, wrangling, and cleaning through R, Excel, and various self-service reporting tools at Mayo Clinic. The resident will collaborate closely with other informaticists and statisticians to support reporting needs for research and quality improvement projects.

Dedicated preceptors

Preceptors for the PGY-2 Pharmacy Informatics Residency oversee medication management technologies in many specialty areas and are actively involved in scholarly activities. The preceptors come from diverse backgrounds and share numerous years of experience, knowledge and interests. Residents have direct access to these and many more preceptors and mentors to optimize the learning experience.

More than 100 pharmacists at Mayo Clinic are certified by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties in various practice areas or by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). All residency program preceptors meet the qualifications outlined by the ASHP.
