Class size and location
Three positions are available in the Positron Emission Tomography Program each year. The positions can be filled by three graduating Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences nuclear medicine technology students or two graduating nuclear medicine technology students and one current staff technologist. This ensures you receive one-on-one instruction and a comprehensive educational experience.
A graduating Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences nuclear medicine technology student is a student who is graduating from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Program in the same year that he or she would begin the Positron Emission Tomography Program.
Admissions requirements
Prerequisites
To be eligible to apply for the Positron Emission Tomography Program at Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences in Rochester, MN, you need to meet one of these requirements:
- Anticipate graduating from the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences Nuclear Medicine Technology Program the year you would begin the Positron Emission Tomography Program.
- Be employed as a staff nuclear medicine technologist at Mayo Clinic and have passed the Positron Emission Tomography Certification Exam Preparatory Course. This option would require the staff certified nuclear medicine technologist to be placed on a leave of absence as determined by the technologist and immediate supervisor.

Applicants are selected based on letters of recommendation and representation of personal qualities and skills in a letter and interview.

Non-U.S. citizen applicants
Admission to Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences is open to U.S. workers in the four categories below. Therefore, visa sponsorship is not available.

Applicants whose primary language is not English must submit results from the Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-based test (TOEFL iBT). Educational transcripts from schools outside the U.S. must be translated (if they are not already in English) and evaluated for U.S. equivalence by an accredited credential evaluation service company prior to submission. Please refer to the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services for a list of qualified companies. The applicant pays for the examination and credential-evaluation services.

How to apply
Your application and all supporting documentation must be received by the Positron Emission Tomography Program Admissions Committee by May 31 for consideration for the Positron Emission Tomography Program beginning in August.
The program begins on the first Wednesday after the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences Nuclear Medicine Technology program concludes. The PET program is a 20-week program.

- Personal Statement is to be one page and include the following. Upload it in the Supplemental Items section.
- What are your current professional goals? How would this program align with your current professional goals? What attributes or experiences have you had that would make you an ideal candidate for this program?
- Two recommendations are required and must be completed in the Recommendation Request section. Each recommender will receive an email with a link to complete a recommendation form.

Upon application acceptance, you will be contacted to schedule an interview.
Acceptance
Once all applicants have been interviewed and applications have been reviewed, the Positron Emission Tomography Program Admissions Committee will recommend placement and offers will be extended by June 30.
Placement is conditional on current nuclear medicine technologist certification (if applicable).
