Mayo Clinic neurologists discussing a case

Our graduates often move on either to their top choice of fellowship or directly to attending positions in private practice or academic settings.

We began training our first resident in 1919. Since that time, more than 500 residents have completed training in this program.

Here’s what a few of our graduates have to say about their experience in the program. For details on alumni from the Adult Neurology Residency, please see the alumni profiles overview.

"I found it remarkable that a top program could function so collaboratively without any sense of competition. The residents treat each other more like friends than coworkers, and the camaraderie is genuine."

“Because Mayo Clinic attracts patients from all over the world, often with rare or previously intractable problems, one might wonder about residency training being heavy on uncommon diagnoses. This is far from the case. I love the balance of fundamental ‘bread and butter’ neurology with the strange and challenging. My toolkit is broader and deeper as a result.”
