Trevor Diercks, D.O.
Hometown: Waukon, Iowa
Medical school: Des Moines (IA) University College of Osteopathic Medicine
About me: I really enjoy the other residents and seeing how the residents all interacted. I like that the family medicine residents are the only residents in the hospital and get first dibs on procedures and other learning experiences. Lastly, I really enjoy the area and the outdoor activities that it had to offer such as fishing and hiking. Spending time with my wife, trout fishing, cooking, gardening, hiking, and playing basketball. I will be practicing outpatient and inpatient medicine at a critical access hospital in a small town following residency. I will also likely be working some shifts in the emergency department.

About me: I am interested in full scope Family Medicine with a particular interest in pediatrics, women’s health, and hospital medicine. I grew up in North Dakota, the youngest of 5 girls with 11 nieces and nephews (so far)! This has given me a particular passion for taking care of families from prenatal to end of life care as well as a passion for women’s health. I also love the continuity of care in Family Medicine which gives me the privilege of getting to know my patients and their families over time and to take care of them both in the clinic and hospital setting. When I am not in the hospital or clinic, I love watching Food Network and trying out new recipes and spending time hiking the beautiful trails in La Crosse.

About me: I grew up in a small town in northern Minnesota with four brothers. Growing up, we learned to appreciate and enjoy the outdoors. I decided to attend the University of Minnesota Duluth Medical School as they specialize in training rural family medicine physicians and made the seamless transition to Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse’s Family Medicine Residency program that excels in training full-scope family physicians — perfect for the rural setting. My dream future practice would involve outpatient medicine with plenty of obstetrics, located of course in a rural setting. In my free time, I continue to enjoy the outdoors and staying active.

About me: Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse was at the top of my list because it was a small, close-knit community program in a world-renowned health system. I felt like every faculty physician and resident was approachable and genuinely interested in getting to know me better. It felt like a community I needed to belong to. I enjoy spending time with my husband, Colton, and our two dachshunds, Maverick and Charlie, anything outdoors (hiking, bicycling, camping, running, kayaking), cooking or baking new recipes, and trying out local restaurants/breweries. About me: There are many reasons why I chose Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse for residency, but what ultimately captivated me was the great sense of community I saw during my interview. I had the opportunity to meet many amazing individuals including residents, faculty, and other program staff that I knew would help me grow as a physician and person. Furthermore, my wife and I fell in love with the area, which allowed us to keep our hobbies while being in an outstanding area to raise our future family. My career goal is to practice rural, broad-spectrum family medicine.
