Medical Student Opportunities
The Family Medicine elective offers a sub-internship that fully integrates fourth-year medical students into the clinical care teams at the Mankato Family Medicine Residency. This rotation provides comprehensive exposure to both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Current medical students can apply for 4th-year clerkship rotations directly via the AAMC Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) portal.
- See the Family Medicine, Outpatient, and Inpatient - Eastridge Clinic and Mankato Hospital (Mankato, MN)for specific details on the clerkship elective goals and activities.
- Visit the Mayo Clinic Visiting Medical Student Clerkshipwebsite for information, including information on Diversity Scholarships.
- Inquiries regarding the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) clerkship program can be sent to MCHSClerkship@mayo.edu.
For current medical students who wish to apply but are not utilizing the VSLO application, please contact Stacy Tomhave at Tomhave.Stacy@mayo.edu to inquire about an application. Applications submitted outside of the VSLO application will be considered within the same application timeline as the VSLO application.
Medical students rotating with our program join us for our daily noon lectures and procedure workshops. Lunch is provided. Free parking at the clinic and hospital is available on-site; however, there are reserved areas for patients and guests. Short-term housing may be available depending on availability.
Other types of rotation requests (shadowing/observations, 3rd year medical rotations) will be considered during January-May, based on availability. Interested learners should reach out to Stacy Tomhave at Tomhave.Stacy@mayo.edu for information on shadowing and international medical graduate observation opportunities.
