There is one position available on a competitive basis each year in the Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship.

Qualifications

Applicants for the Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship must have successfully completed a fully accredited three-year residency program in general pediatrics in the United States.

International medical graduates

Exceptionally qualified international medical school graduates may be considered for admission. International medical graduates must be certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).

How to apply

You must apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) for fellowship applicants.

The application and all supporting documentation must be submitted at least 12 months before the date you wish to start the program, though it is advantageous to have the application and interview process completed 18 months ahead of time. The academic year begins in July with the fellowship beginning on July 7 each year.

  1. To apply to the program, visit the ERAS for fellowship applicants website. All applications to Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education programs must include these application materials.
  2. Appointments are made through the Pediatric Specialties Fall Match, which is sponsored by the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Specialties Matching Service. Candidates must register through the Specialties Matching Service after submitting an application through ERAS.
  3. Applicants considered for an appointment will be invited to visit Mayo Clinic for a personal interview with the program director and selected faculty. Interviews are conducted throughout the year.

Fellowship start date

The Council of Pediatric Subspecialties (CoPS) has recommended that pediatric subspecialty fellowships start no earlier than July 7 each year. This start date would allow for an easier transition from residency to fellowship for most trainees, with programs likely benefiting as well.

At Mayo Clinic, we recognize how difficult it can be for residents to complete their training, move to a new city, and join a subspecialty division for the first time. If you, the prospective candidate, have any questions or concerns about this change in start date and what it might mean for you, refer to the CoPS statement or contact the fellowship's education coordinator at 507-538-5864.
